This is a really nice park to enjoy. Sitting on the banks of the Sandy River, you can hike around and get some alone time, picnic, or play disc golf. I’ve played here at least once before, but today I dropped in just to play 9. It’s a very challenging course for me and I played lackadaisically as I was alone. It has very nice signage, tee pads, and baskets. There are many water hazards so I should have worn my Keen sandals instead of my hiking boots. There were plenty of ripe apples and blackberries. I was surprised how much water was still flowing in the feeder streams. On hole 9, I lost my disc, then found four other strays before returning to the original side of the creek to see my disc suspended in the briars. So overall, I found about $60 worth of new discs to use. I only saw about 10 other folks out and even a few cats from Tennessee. I had fun. Thank you and good night!
Beautiful park. Great place to put in your tube and float the river.
I went from here to Glen Otto Park, a distance of about four miles and about a three hour journey.
If you don’t want to float or if the water is too swift and cold, you can picnic, walk the many trails or, play a game of disc golf.
The rangers patrol the park on a regular basis so be on your best behavior.
Park can get quite busy during the summer so arrive early.
A $5 day use fee is required for this park.
Multiple picnic areas. Multiple beaches. Multiple hiking trails. Great place!
Nice area on Sandy River with sandy beach, boat launch, fishing, picnic areas, restrooms
Beautiful place for a river float with a bunch of friends! Saw a nice assortment of wildlife including a bald eagle that we floated directly under.
It's nice to have a trail within such a short drive from the Gresham area. We come up from Salem to do some hikes with Portland based family and don't want to spend another two hours to get to a remote trailhead and back. Easy hike by the river.
Great place to explore or just hang out by the water. It does get crowded on nice days, and even with a lot of parking spots, there are days when there are none available. We have always been able to find an area far enough away from the crowds and enjoy nature. Fishing is popular there as well, although I'm not sure how good it is, but I assume fairly good with the amount of fisherpeople ;) that I've seen there. Everyone is usually friendly, and any dogs typically well behaved.
Quiet. Peaceful. Serene. Safe- thus far. I go alone. No problem to date. Picnic tables. Wading. Free use life jackets. Honor system. Water was low n green on 9/12. Pack a picnic n drinks. No alcahol allowed. Rangers check regularly. Bathrooms r clean n comfy. Games n nice trail to Sandy River. There is a pump for cold, clean, non-chlorine mt.water. I brought empty jugs. Very nice place to visit/hang out. Nice ride to go there n back. Oh, $5 to park , boat, fish, swim, eagle sightings. Good staycation.
